Justice – Live @ FREQS Social

A journey intersecting dub and celebrating the 170 and Autonomic stylings which are ripe for a comeback. Touching on spaced out Amen rollers, 140 jungle vibes and dubbed out Fela. Taking in jazz, boogie, a slice of slo mo Detroit Techno and everything in between for an eclectic journey that shows Justice’s broad spectrum of influences.

Tony Bowes, aka Justice, is one of the UK’s most adventurous producers. At the forefront of electronic music from the very start of his 35-year career, from his beginnings in the breakbeat hardcore scene through to ambient jungle excursions and latter day experimentalism, he’s often led the way.

Cutting classic tracks alongside production partner Blame, like early rave gem ‘Death Row’ and seminal, synth-laden Moving Shadow cut ‘Anthemia’, his solo cuts for Basement, Creative Wax and Hardleaders have been championed by everyone from Fabio and LTJ Bukem to Gilles Peterson and Mixmaster Morris. His defining albums for Hydrogen Dukebox, meanwhile, like debut ‘Viewpoints’ and ‘Modern Retro’, have demonstrated the versatility and playfulness of an artist who refuses to be pigeonholed: records spanning everything from Detroit-infused drum & bass to blissed-out ambient and soul-leaning broken beat.
