Roaming fast and slow 6 is a St Leonards postcard to Nu Skool Breakz. Heavily indebted to Adam Freeland’s roiling bass-heavy Coastal Breaks mixes that, for Roam, resonate powerfully with St Leonards’ litoral location, itself not far from Freeland’s original Marine Parade record label headquarters in Brighton. This is Roam returning to their roots, where the djing and record buying began, at a tempo Freeland once claimed was the most natural for dancing. (The longer limbed feel slower is the move.) The mix opens with a phenomenal but almost un-mixable track by Bargecharge, co-produced by local legend Keith Tenniswood, released on Tipper’s pivotal Fuel label, progressing through a cross-section of nu-skool classics and culminating with Ed Chamberlain’s more recent take on the genre. Like #4, this mix features a homage to another classic mix; iykyk.
